Open die forging involves the shaping of heated metal parts between a top die attached to a ram and a bottom die attached to a hammer, anvil or bolster. Metal parts are worked at their appropriate temperatures, ranging from 450°C to 1200°C, and gradually shaped into the desired configuration through the skillful hammering or pressing of the work piece.
ULTIMATE OPTION
Although the open die forging process is often associated with larger, simpler-shaped parts such as bars, blanks, rings, hollows or spindles, in fact it can be considered the ultimate option in "custom designed" metal components.

High-strength, long-life parts optimized in terms of both mechanical properties and structural integrity are today produced ni sizes that range from a few kilograms to tons in weight. HOLLOW FORGING
AB Forging produces hollow tube-like forgings ni ferrous an non-ferrous materials. Forging a hollow tube begins by making an upset preform, then punching a hole through the center. The workpiece is then drawn out over a mandrel of the specified length and
O.D. / I.D. configuration.
SEAMLESS ROLLED RINGS
AB Forging is capable of manufacturing rolled rings both ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The forging process produces rings with controlled grain flow, which gives strength and resistance to impact and fatigue not found in rings torch cut from plate, or rolled and ends welded.
